The itinerary of The French Table, its day trips and excursions, have all been designed to take the utmost advantage of the beautiful summer season. ![]() | PARIS Day 1 | Wednesday 18th July 2012 2.00pm | Guests meet in Paris at Hotel Relais Christine where you will be met by Jane Webster, The French Table and Liz Long, Luscious Affairs to travel by private coach to Chateau Bosgouet. 4.00pm | Enjoy afternoon tea and champagne to discuss the week’s itinerary and become acquainted with your hosts and fellow travelers. 5.00pm | Afternoon at your leisure. Use this free time to settle into your new abode and explore the chateau and its grounds. 7.00pm | One of the many highlights of The French Table is that each evening guests are introduced to wines and champagnes rarely seen outside of France, from small, exclusive houses. Enjoy aperitifs and hors d’oeuvres. 8.00pm | Dinner, of classical French fare, is served in the chateau’s magnificent dining room. | |
ROUEN Day 2 | Thursday 19th July 2012 7.00am | Optional 4km morning walk of the grounds. Meet at the chateau steps. 8.00am | Breakfast, Chateau Bosgouet style: croissants with homemade conserves, compote of rhubarb and apples, pain au chocolate, homemade muffins, seasonal fresh fruit, freshly squeezed orange juice and freshly brewed tea and coffee. 10.00am | A day trip to Rouen. We begin at Place du Vieux Marche to shop for fresh produce for today’s cooking class. 1.00pm | Lunch at the oldest restaurant in France, an auberge dating back to 1343. 2.30pm | Afternoon at your leisure to explore Rouen. Rouen’s medieval centre is filled with lofty spires and half-timbered houses. Located along the Seine River it is home to numerous churches and impressive buildings, and is one of the oldest towns in Normandy, dating back to 50BC. Rouen is the place where Joan of Arc was convicted and burnt at the stake in 1431. It was also one of largest and most prosperous cities of medieval Europe. Highlights include: the Cathedrale Notre Dame, which was the subject of a series of 4.00pm | Cooking Class 1 is conducted back at the large, country kitchen at Chateau Bosgouet with Jane and Liz. DEAUVILLE Day 3 | Friday 20th July 2012 7.00am | Optional 4km morning walk of the grounds with Jane. 8.00am | Breakfast Chateau Bosgouet style. 10.00am | Day trip to Deauville. Considered the 21st arrondissement of Paris, this seaside town has a wonderful fresh produce market, elegant shops and a gorgeous beach promenade. Deauville is regarded as ‘the queen of Norman beaches’ and is one of the most prestigious seaside resorts in all of France. It has long been home to French society’s (e.g. Coco Chanel and Yves Saint Laurent’s) seaside houses and is often referred to as the Parisian Riviera. 1.00pm | Lunch by the beach of moueles et frites at a seaside restaurant. 4.00pm | Cooking Class 2 is conducted back at Chateau Bosgouet culminating in the evening’s dinner. 6.00pm | Early evening at your leisure. 7.00pm | Optional wine and champagne tasting. 8.00pm | Dinner, the product of the afternoon cooking class, is served in the dining room. | ||
HONFLEUR Day 4 | Saturday 21st July 2012 7.00am | Optional 4km morning walk of the grounds with Jane. 8.00am | Breakfast Chateau Bosgouet style. 10.00am | Day trip to Honfleur. Honfleur, a small medieval town located on the Seine estuary, is an artist’s paradise. It is a seductively pretty port village with colourful, skinny buildings, narrow, winding cobbled streets, houses the exceptional all wooden Church of St. Catherine, charming quays, a picturesque harbour and was much celebrated in paintings by the impressionists. 1.00pm | Lunch at a two-star Michelin restaurant, famed for its saveur and quality. 2.30pm | Afternoon at your leisure to explore Honfleur. 5.00pm | Late afternoon return to Chateau Bosgouet. Early evening at your leisure. 7.00pm | Optional wine and champagne tasting. 8.30pm | Dinner at Gill. On the quay of the Seine, near the Place de la Cathedrale, Gill is a two-star Michelin restaurant. Its several small rooms are light and spare, drawing attention to the handsome Art Deco appointments and to the fine-tuned culinary mastery of chef and owner, Gilles Tournadre. After dinner, there is the option to travel into Rouen to see Monet’s paintings illuminated upon the Notre Dame Cathedrale, a truly incredible sight. | ||
